Barone appeared in the fourth-season Seinfeld episode The Shoes as Gail Cunningham Chef who was seeking Elaine Benes shoes. In the 1990s, she was a regular on the cast for Carol & Company with actress Carol Burnett. Barone appeared as Carol Willick Geller's ex-wife in the initial Friends appearance. Jane Sibbett was her replacement as Barone left Friends in order to take on a new role that required longer time.
